The large-scale renovation work necessary to completely transform the house into a museum began in 1979. The renovation was completed in 1981. On the poet's birthday, November 26, the ground-floor exhibition reopened, and a full-length statue of Babits sitting in an armchair by Pál Farkas was inaugurated in the courtyard of the memorial house. On the poet's 100th birthday, November 26, 1983, Ferenc Juhász inaugurated the new exhibition upstairs and the Babits Mihály Memorial House, which has become a museum in its entirety.
On the 125th anniversary of Mihály Babits' birth, in 2008, an exhibition was created that respects the spirit and traditions of the house, yet is enriched with modern, interactive elements, and is currently open to visitors.
